Mini-Workshop with 2Katie Designs + A Giveaway!

Um, am I excited?  Yes.  Yes, I am.

You all probably know already that this past weekend was part one of the first snap! workshop.  Of course, I’m a little biased (participants, feel free to chime in here if I’m totally delusional), but I had an absolute blast teaching the ladies in my first group!  I admit that secretly, I always wanted to be a teacher.  I even majored for a short time in early education.  I never really followed through on that because life had other plans for me… but lookout world, here I am.  And I’m gonna keep teaching.

In fact, I’m so happy to announce a partnership with 2Katie Designs that is going to allow me to do just that.

At the end of this month, I will be co-hosting a mini-workshop with the 2 Katies!!

Here’s the blurb from our Facebook pages:

2Katie Designs is teaming with Melissa Campbell of Preserved Photography to offer an evening of learning about the one thing most important in scrapbooking… how to better photograph your kids!

This class is sure to provide a wealth of information (including stuff you never even knew you needed to know) about working specifically with kids. We’ll touch on all the important things – working with light, tips/tricks for photographing kids and pets (maybe even families, if you’re feeling brave) – and time will be allowed for a Q&A session, so bring your creative mind!

Class cost of $35 inludes workshop, tips & technique reference tag book, snacks, fun & prizes!

Please note – you do NOT need to own a DSLR camera to attend the workshop with 2Katies!

Now…  how about that giveaway?

One lucky class participant is going to win 50% off registration for my full snap! workshop in the month of January 2011!

That’s right.  Come learn with us on November 30th and you can be registered to win the full workshop!  See, I love you guys.  :)

Yesterday | NWA Photography Mentoring Sessions

If you live in NWA, you probably woke up yesterday, walked outside and immediately thought ‘WOOOOOOO PIG SOOIE!’

Um, could the weather have been any more Fall-like for an August day? Methinks not. It was spectacular and could NOT have come on a better day. Because yesterday, my friends, was my first-ever mentoring session with another photographer. Yeah. That’s right. I said it. I mentored another photographer. And what a blast we had!

Jan of j.bloss Photography (I would link you, but her AMAZING website hasn’t been released yet… for now, you can email her at rbloss@embarqmail.com) came to town from Wellsville, KS for our session. We spent the day talking shop, learning, and shooting with one of my fave people, Ashlee (that’s my favorite part). Unfortunately, Jan couldn’t stick around for our 2nd model, but Sarah and I went out on our own and I got to play! Here are a few of my images from our time together yesterday, as well as some of the shots from my time with Sarah! Enjoy, peeps…

Oooh lookey, there’s JanJan!

Nothin’ wrong with standing in the middle of the road for a shoot-off, I say. We won’t discuss the fact that my precious JanJan almost got hit by a car immediately after this frame (twice). Ahem.

Sarah, my lens loves you.

Indeedely-doodely, I had an amazing day yesterday.  :)
