early bird | northwest arkansas newborn portraits
Several months ago, I was contacted to set up a newborn session for this baby boy - in late October. Imagine my surprise when last week, his mommy contacted me to let me know that he just didn’t want to wait any longer to meet us all and that he had arrived 4 weeks early!
He’s cute, no?

I thought you’d agree with me. I think his cuteness must be genetic because he brought his big brother along for the session and would you look at him?

I mean, really? How do some parents get so lucky to have not one, but two, precious children?
Brittin & Tony - thanks for hanging out with me today. I will have lots, lots more for you very soon!

Words can’t even express how happy I am about the photos that we got tonight of two of my all-time favorite kids… Tripp & Evie. Just see for yourself.

Laura & Bo - I hope you love these (and the others you’ll see soon enough!). Lord knows that if you don’t, I love them enough for you. ![]()

E Family | Northwest Arkansas Family Photographer
When I arrived for this evening’s session, I looked at the sky and immediately had a little ball of uneasiness in my stomach. An overcast day is my favorite, which is no secret, but the sky was SO dark this afternoon. I admit - I was concerned.
But… I have to say that I am beyond thrilled with the images from tonight’s session. I absolutely love working with families that seem so at ease with each other & natural in front of the lens. What an insanely fun & gorgeous family!

Rob & Melanie - I had a blast tonight. Thanks for bringing your family out & showing that dark sky who’s boss.
I hope you love the sneak peek! More to come very soon.
Drumroll, please.
Hi all! Crawling out from under my rock (otherwise known as the ridiculous upper respiratory infection that has plagued my house for the past week) to announce the winner of the canvas contest.
After tallying all of the votes from the past week, I am happy to announce that the following photo will be proudly displayed on the walls in my new studio space…

And even more pleased to announce that Zoey’s mom is the big winner of the free 11×14 standard canvas! Congratulations, Jessica - with nearly 50 votes, you definitely earned this one!
I have to pause for a minute and say that I am absolutely floored at the number of votes that poured in for this contest. I’m amazed by the response - absolutely amazed. And because I am so amazed by the response & support, and I love all of the photos that were included in this contest, I want to say that everyone is a winner - so for those of you who didn’t receive the highest number of votes, you won’t be walking away empty-handed. Each of you will receive a $20 credit toward the purchase of an 11×14 standard canvas of your own! Just contact me when you’re ready to cash it in!
Thanks for playing, guys - remember, I have lots & lots of wall space in that studio… I expect there will be more contests coming soon!

Hi, Internet. I hope you’re having a good holiday weekend. My name’s Melissa and I just wanted to share some insanely adorable photos of baby Owen with you. You’re welcome.

Zoey | Northwest Arkansas Children’s Photographer
Just finishing up editing on the last few images from Miss Zoey’s 5-year session and boy, oh boy. Do I ever have lots of fun shots of this little princess. Here are just a few of my favorites.

If this is what Zoey gives me at 5, I absolutely can’t wait to see what she brings to her 6-year session.
Jessica - I hope you love these! (I know I do!)
About time for a CONTEST, I’d say.
It has been entirely too long since I’ve held a contest. Entirely.
And, since I’ve been “supervising” the installation of new floors in the studio this week, it got me thinking about all the new goodies I am going to be able to print to decorate when it’s all finished (side note - if you love me, you will cross your fingers that “finished” happens very, very soon… please?).
That said, how about a little contest?
I’m currently debating between the following 5 images to be printed on standard canvas (3/4″ wide frame) for a special place on my new office walls. I thought to myself what a great time this would be to share the canvas love.
So, here’s how it works: if your child(ren) are featured in the images below, you need to get on the horn (email, text, pony express, carrier pigeon - what ever your preferred method of communication is these days) and tell all of your friends/family to do the following:
1. Become a fan of Preserved Photography on Facebook! (this part’s easy, just click here). If your friend/family member is already a fan, just skip this step.
2. Send me an email (melissa@preservedphoto.com) including their First/Last name, and the number of the photo (yours, obviously) that they’re voting for.
That simple.
The winning photo will be printed on 16×24 standard canvas for the studio for all the world to see… and, the best part?
The winner (or parent of the adorable child whose photo wins, rather) will receive a FREE 11×14 standard canvas of their choice. Party on.
**Contest will end at midnight on Friday, September 11, 2009 - all votes must be received prior to 12:00 midnight CST on this date**
Here are the finalists!

I had such a blast shooting with you tonight. I told you I’d post a few because I’m impatient… so here they are. I hope you love ‘em.
